1/4" Post-sintered ptfe lined leads - 3000 psi

This smooth bore PTFE lined lead meets or exceeds CGA E-9 and SAE 100R14 Specifications

Weldcoa’s smooth bore PTFE leads have been the standard in the gases industry for years. This lead utilizes a single stainless steel braid around a flexible tube made out of post-sintered PTFE material. The proprietary post sintering process, unique to the compressed gas industry, is an added operation that further fuses the PTFE material to reduce the diffusion of small molecules. This process helps make Weldcoa’s PTFE lead products the very best in the industry.

WHY IS A POST-SINTERED PTFE LEAD BETTER THAN A STANDARD PTFE LEAD?

Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is a synthetic fluoropolymer of tetrafluoroethylene. The best known brand name of the PTFE-based formula is Teflon® by Chemours. Chemours is a spin-off of DuPont Co., which discovered the compound in 1938.

The tube material is first made through a process of cold head extrusion and the tetraflouroetheylene powder is transformed into a smooth, virgin tube of PTFE, as per CGA E-9 (2017) section 4.1. Weldcoa then takes that PTFE smooth tube material and performs, in-house, a post-sintering process that re-bakes the PTFE tube material at a controlled time and temperature, increasing the wall thickness and tightening the molecular bond, which dramatically reduces effusion rate. By making these voids as small as possible, it closes the path a gas molecule will follow while under pressure making the PTFE more "dense". Post-sintered PTFE provides the lowest effusion rate possible while maintaining the highest flexibility and most robust inner core.

In the gas industry: the higher the effusion rate, the higher the product ($$$$) loss for flexible lead (hose/pigtail) material...Post-Sintered PTFE is your best option.

  • Economically priced
  • Lowest effusion rate providing the lowest amount of lost gas in service
  • Widest temperature range
  • Highest flexibility
  • Longest service life
  • Meets and exceeds CGA E-9 (2017) section 6.1.6

SAFETY FEATUREs

Quality control methods and meticulous attention to detail throughout the manufacturing process ensure that our customers will receive a leak-free lead that will provide years of service. This detail and commitment to the entire process helps make Weldcoa's PTFE lead products the very best in the industry.

  • Maximum allowable working pressure (MAWP) is based on a 4:1 Safety Factor. Therefore all of our non-metal leads' minimum burst level is Four Times Maximum Allowable Working Pressure
  • Every lead is 100% Hydrostatically pressure tested to 1.5 times the MAWP
  • Then 100% Nitrogen leak tested
  • Then 100% Externally cleaned to remove lubricants and debris
  • Then 100% Internally oxygen cleaned, dried, bagged to the highest safety standards including CGA's G-4.1 requirements.
  • All Weldcoa flexible lead assemblies meet CGA E-9 (2017) Section 6.1.6 Pneumatic Effusion Requirements
  • Weldcoa post-sintered flexible leads have passed several difficult levels of testing either by an independent lab or internally in each stage of production.
  • All Weldcoa Leads are made in the USA

COMMON CGA CONNECTIONS

These leads comply with the Compressed Gas Association’s pamphlet E-9 “Standard For Medium Pressure (3,000 PSIG) Flexible PTFE Lined Pigtails for Compressed Gas Service”.

Below is a partial list of commonly used compressed gas cylinder connections. Additional connections are available upon request. All information provided is taken from the 1994 revision of the Compressed Gas Association’s pamphlet V-1 “Compressed Gas Cylinder Valve Outlet and Inlet Connections”. For industrial gas mixtures refer to CGA pamphlet V-7 “Standard Method of Determining Cylinder Valve Outlet Connections for Industrial Gas Mixtures”.

LEAD IDENTIFICATION

Weldcoa uses color coded easy to read identification wraps on all of its leads and hoses. This industrial-grade wrap identifies Weldcoa as the manufacturer, the MAWP and the date of manufacture.

Weldcoa now offers a free online selection guide intended to provide some guidance for high pressure gas lead (hose/pigtail) selection based on cylinder application, pressure, safety measures and medium. This particular configurator will not allow you to configure a lead that is deemed unsafe or does not exist.

Each Lead Comes With a 1 year warranty

For a period of one (1) year from the date of sale by Weldcoa, Weldcoa warranties the hose assembly and any component incorporated therein used in the transmission of compressed gas or cryogenic fluids to be free from manufacturing defects. These warranties shall be void if such hose and/or armor casing has been used in corrosive gas application or has otherwise been subject to abuse. If this warranty is in effect, Weldcoa's only obligation hereunder will be to provide replacement hose as the case may be, for any portion proven to have such defect or, at Weldcoa's option, to refund the purchase. User assumes all other risk, if any, including the risk of injury, loss or damage whether direct consequences or incidental arising out of the use, misuse or inability to use this product.
